styling the royal wedding

As promised, we have been talking royal wedding style non-stop here at Couture Cuisine, and have come up with some fun daydreams for a Friday afternoon…here’s how we would design William and Kate’s 2011 wedding.

The royal couple is known to enjoy clubbing at London’s hippest spots, so we think a few modern, ever-so-slightly-edgy touches would be an appropriate and discreet nod to their personal tastes. Modern mirrored chargers and coloured glasses combined with proper silverware and crystal stemware would be a fun juxtaposition, just like at a wedding we catered back in 2007…

A similarly edgy look could be had with a softer colour palette, such as the one featured on Style Me Pretty today. This palette would be very daytime-friendly, should the wedding follow tradition and take place in the morning.

It’s widely thought that Kate will select a wedding gown by a British designer, just as Diana, Princess of Wales did. Most fashion types are predicting a conservative gown with cleaner lines and softer fabrics than the late Princess’s taffeta confection. So if all this is known in advance, we do hope that Kate will surprise everyone with her shoe selection. The girl loves a heel, so we predict that flats are out. While a demure peep-toe from London-based Jimmy Choo would be lovely, we would be so, so, so excited to see her slip on a pair of sexy, sparkly Louboutins such as these. Blue seems to be Kate’s colour – and would match her stunning sapphire!
